BIRMINGHAM CITY UNIVERSITY PREPARES BUSINESSES FOR SUSTAINABLE FUTURE WITH NEW BOOTCAMP
Birmingham City University and the West Midlands Combined Authority has launched a bootcamp equipping professionals with the latest leading thinking on climate change and applying sustainable processes.
The ‘Climate Literacy for Sustainable Futures’ is a 14-week 8-day course starting on 24th January, designed for individuals interested in embedded sustainable initiatives in their organisations.
The bootcamp is open to professionals, self-employed individuals and company employees connected to the West Midlands region. Taught by industry leading experts in the field from the School of Architecture, the programme blends theoretical knowledge and practical experience, with case study visits across Birmingham.
Sarah King, Material Research and Sustainability Lead says ‘The Climate Literacy Bootcamp is designed to develop leadership skills with climate literacy in mind. Based around the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and the design processes of the Design Council, the course will cover key elements including an introduction to climate literacy, systems thinking, circular economic principles, sustainable materials, leading in sustainable change, and much, much more. This course is designed to give professionals the confidence to deliver sustainable outcomes, given the pressure and commitment on businesses to deliver against the net zero agenda.’
The Bootcamp is funded by the West Midlands Combined Authority, free of charge to self-employed individuals and part-funded for SMEs and large organisations. The programme is eligible to employed professionals or registered self-employed that either work or live in the West Midlands (based on your postcode).
The course is scheduled over 8 sessions over 14 weeks from 24th January, with all sessions held at Birmingham City University campus except for case study visits.
