Why do this Course?
This qualification has been developed by the CMI in cooperation with the Institute for Consulting (IC) and is designed for both practising and aspiring Professional Consultants. The course is designed to develop the essential skills and knowledge needed within a consultancy role and covers essential topics such as; the nature of consulting, professional personal development as a consultant, effective communication with clients, structured approaches to managing consultancy interventions, using project management techniques in consultancy interventions and conducting successful consultancy interventions.
How much does the Course Cost?
This course is currently funded by the ‘West Midlands Combined Authority’ and is FREE to adult residents living in eligible post-code areas.
What does the Course Involve?
You will study two units:-
- Introduction to Consulting Essentials
- Planning and Managing Consultancy Interventions
Whilst on the course, you will be given FREE professional membership of the CMI, which includes access to a range of CMI products and services to support you throughout the qualification and later as you progress in their career.
In addition you will have a FREE ‘LinkedIn Learning’ account throughout your studies, which means you will have access to over 16,000 free online, bite-sized courses.
How is the Course Assessed?
Each units is assessed by one written assignment of approximately 2,500-4,000 words.
How is the Course Delivered?
The course is delivered fully online with ‘real-time’ interactive classes taking place on Tuesdays 5.30 – 9pm, using the Zoom video conferencing platform. Online, on-demand learning materials are available 24/7 and are accessible by both PCs and mobile devices.
When does the Course Start and End?
Start Date: Tuesday 4th May 2021
End Date: Tuesday 27th July 2021
What are the Entry Requirements?
You must have gained a minimum of five GCSEs at grade C or above including English or equivalent qualifications. Ideally, you will also have a CMI Level 3 Diploma or similar qualifications at level 3.
However, if you are a mature applicant (over 21 years) your work experience (paid and/or unpaid) may be taken into account in lieu of formal qualifications.
What Progression Opportunities are there?
On successful completion of this course, you can progress to the CMI Level 5 Diploma in Professional Consulting. On achievement of the Level 5 Diploma you may be eligible to apply for full membership (MCMI) or even Chartered Membership of the CMI (CMgr MCMI).
Other progression opportunities include moving on to CMI qualifications at the next level, for example CMI Level 6 qualifications in Professional Management and Leadership Practice or CMI Level 7 qualifications in Professional Consulting or Strategic Management and Leadership.
